Literary Heroine

Hi all,

I found this blog (according to kellie), and felt that this would be fun to participate in so enjoy :)

a.       Hi, my name is Anna. I am a sophomore/ junior in college double majoring in Psychology and Nursing. My dream is to become a Pediactiric nurse taking care of children who have cancer. I also would love to have my own family. I absolutely love my family and enjoy spending time with friends and getting to know new people. I am a little new to the blogging world and many times am not the most successful at blogging. Random tidbit about me: my favorite animal is the raccoon. I am not sure why, but I have always fancied raccoons J  
  1. What, to you, forms the essence of a true heroine? 
1.      A true heroine isn’t afraid to stick up for what is right. She is strong in a sense that she will stay true to herself and stay true to her beliefs.

  1. Out of those five books who is your favorite main character and why?
1.      My favorite character would be Jo March from little women. She is similar to me and is the type of character that draws you in. sometimes you feel like she is making terrible mistakes, other times you want to feel bad for her.  
  1. Out of those five books who is your favorite secondary character and why? 
1.      Secondary character: Fagan from Oliver twist. He is such an interesting sort. He screams out to you as someone who would be really interesting to meet in person J
  1. If you were to plan out your dream vacation, where would you travel to - and what would you plan to do there? 
1.      Dream vacation: go backpacking through Europe
  1. What is your favorite time period and culture to read about? 
1.      Oh my, my favorite time period is the 1400’s I love that era for fashion and for all the diseases and for just the lifestyle. Culturally: I love reading about the Amish.
  1. You have been invited to perform at the local charity concert. Singing, comedy, recitation - what is your act comprised of? 
1.      Act: probably singing while playing the piano. I would also see if my boyfriend would play his cello so we could do duets togetherJ
  1. If you were to attend a party where each guest was to portray a heroine of literature, who would you select to represent? 
a.       I would want to be like Jo March.
  1. What are your sentiments on the subject of chocolate
1.      For the most part, I avoid chocolate… since I am lactose intolerant, but I will eat it if I am having a tough day. I think chocolate is actually a little too sweet for my taste though. I much rather have Chinese cake or sorbet.

a.      One who isn’t afraid of the truth and who seeks to grow  
  1. Describe your ideal dwelling place.
A little cottage with a big backyard with trees all around

Easy, quick, simple, cute, modest/trendy  
  1. Have you ever wanted to change a character’s name? 
1.      Not so much the character’s name, but more so on what the character looks like
  1. In your opinion, the most dastardly villain of all literature is..
1.      Too many to choose from really hahah .

  1. Your duties met for the day, how would you choose to spend a carefree summer afternoon? 
Playing music (piano, oboe…etc) read books J relax, watch medical surgeries online… XD
  1. Create a verbal sketch of your dream hat - in such a way as will best portray your true character. 
a.       Dream hat: something simple and vintage like a 20’sstyle hat, but with a pop of color and adventure in it. not too gaudy, but just enough pop to scream out that I love something new.
  1. Share the most significant event(s) that have marked your life in the past year. 
a.       My brother getting married. This has been a huge change
  1. Share the Bible passage(s) that have been most inspiring to you recently.
a.       “For I know the plans i have made for you, says the Lord, plans for a hope and future…”- in my own words, but from Jeremiah 29:11. Whenever you feel discouraged that something isn’t going the way YOU want it to go, just remember GOD has everything in control J

  1. Hi Anna! I really enjoyed your post - I also love Jo March; I'd love to go backpacking through Europe too; and I've been known to watch a few surgeries on YouTube myself! :-D

    That's neat that "The Prince and the Pauper" is one of your favorite historical novels - I haven't read it in ages, but I'd like to go back and read it again! :-)
